Like all small speaker mikes audio is not deafening but it works. mir...jee > ------------------------------ Date: 28 Jun 94 20:28:00 -0500 From: blkcat!org!fidonet!z1!n109!f239!David.Edger@uunet.uu.net Subject: Opinions About Ft11r Handheld ? To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu The FTllR is a great little rig, but it has some defects that might be important to you. First, it is expensive to obtain the 12V converter to allow its use in a car. Second, I find the construction to be a little less solid than some of the other rigs. Finally, CTCSS decode is an extra cost option. The above said, it is a nice radio. But, if I was buying new, I would definitely look closely at the Icom T21A. This radio has none of the defects of the FTllR. It has, as an added attraction, 6W output when run from a 12V supply, PL tone scan which is really nifty, and most importantly UHF receive capability from 400 to 490 MHZ. This last is lots of fun and lets you do a bit of scanning when the 2 meter repeaters are quiet. The T21A is more expensive, but it has a lot to offer. 73 Dave AA5NU --------- Fidonet: David Edger 1:109/239 Internet: David.Edger@f239.n109.z1.fidonet.org ------------------------------ Date: 28 Jun 94 17:40:30 -0500 From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!usc!sol.ctr.columbia.edu!usenet.ucs.indiana.edu!indyvax.iupui.edu!jedward@network.ucsd.edu Subject: Opinions on batteries?
